This Native American Art project is inspired by the Native authored book:

Winner of the 2020 Robert F. Sibert Informational Book Medal
A 2020 American Indian Youth Literature Picture Book Honor Winner
Have you ever tried fry bread? One of my favorite things to do at a Pow Wow is to have a delicious Taco made on fry bread. This lesson looks at the importance of food and family. Although fry bread is not a “traditional” Native American food, it has become a part of many Native American family feasts. Each tribe, each family, often has their own recipe/version. Find out why this nontraditional food has become so popular. Then explore artists who create sculpture to look like food. Students will have a blast making their own fry bread tacos…. who doesn’t love tacos?!
